First Year Experience

What is First Year Experience Living and Learning Community?

If you choose to be a participant in the First Year Experience (FYE) program, you will live with other first-year students in Wadsworth Hall. FYE is a co-ed and chemical-free living environment. Several upper-level students will serve as resident assistants, program coordinator, and mentors on your floor, ensuring that you learn your way around campus, get involved, make friends, and get help with any academic challenges. FYE will help make your transition to life as a college student easier.

What makes FYE different?
Living in FYE is different than living anywhere else in the residence halls. Some unique aspects of the FYE houses include:

  • A community atmosphere where everyone works together to help first-year students succeed.
  • A alcohol free hall of all first-year students.
  • An abundance of leadership and social opportunities.

What do FYE residents think?

  • "It’s active.  There are opportunities every week for experiencing college . . . it’s definitely not boring!"
  • "I have made a lot of friends, and I have gotten involved in a lot more than I would have if I chose to live somewhere else."
  • "Having people willing to help me has made my first year much easier."

What are some typical FYE activities?
