Course Scheduling

Online registration for the fall semester is available to those first-year students enrolled in the following college or schools:

• College of Sciences and Arts
• School of Business and Economics
• School of Forest Resources and Environmental Science
• School of Technology

This online registration period will begin Wednesday, April 11 at 12:00 pm Eastern Standard Time (EST) and end Wednesday, April 25 at 12:00 pm EST. Information will be sent to you and detailed instructions will be available on your Avenue. See Logging-on for more information. Initial course placement is based on your major and your ACT/SAT scores or Math Diagnostic Test results. Schedules will be adjusted in July by the Office of Student Records and Registration if you receive Advanced Placement (AP) or transfer credit for any courses in which you are registered.

Students in the College of Engineering will have their schedules prepared for them by the Office of Student Records and Registration in mid-July. Students are scheduled into cohorts (groups of students that take the same courses together) based on major, ACT/SAT scores or Math Diagnostic Test results, and any AP or transfer credit that is received.

Important Course Scheduling Notes

• Schedules will be available on your Avenue in late July.
• All first-year students will register for UN1001, Perspectives on Inquiry, during Orientation (unless you receive AP or transfer credit for it). This is a 3-credit general education course that is required of all first-year students.
• Your initial schedule may not reflect full-time status, which is 12 credits, but you will be billed as a full-time student to make you eligible for financial aid.
• You may add physical education courses, general education courses, or other elective courses during Orientation.
• Be sure to have your college transcript and/or AP results sent to MTU to receive proper credit.
