Important Dates

March 1 Your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) should have been completed so that the federal processor received it by March 1. See Financial Aid.
March 9 - April 6 Mathematics online placement test available. See Course Placement Information.
March 13 Review current tuition and housing rates, payment plans, and payment due dates at www.admin.mtu.edu/acct. See Undergraduate Annual Expenses.
March 15 Learning Community applications are accepted on a rolling basis with priority given to those applications arriving by today. See Learning Communities.

March 30 Start your planning for Orientation at www.orientation.mtu.edu. Also see the Orientation section of the Tech Guide.
April 1 Check the online Michigan Tech Financial Aid Info System to make sure that all your requirements are met.
April 11 - April 25 Online registration is available to those students enrolled in the College of Sciences and Arts, School of Business and Economics, School of Forest Resources and Environmental Science, and School of Technology. See Course Scheduling.
April 13 Registration deadline for the April 18-30 online Modern Language Placement Test. See Course Placement.

April 25 Two payment plans are available for you. the installment prepayment plan and the deferred payment plan. Visit http://www.admin.mtu.edu/acct. Also see Paying Your Bill.
May 1 Your $100 enrollment deposit is due. Payment of the deposit ensures you will receive Orientation information, fall courses, and housing assignment (if applicable). See Welcome.
May 1 Check the online Michigan Tech Financial Aid Info System to make sure that all your requirements are met.
May 15 Are you eligible for the Michigan Merit Award? Remember to certify with the State at 1-888-447-2687. That way your MEAP money will appear as a credit on your bill. See Financial Aid.
May 20 Your first payment of the installment prepayment plan is due today. See Paying Your Bill.
June 1 Check the online Michigan Tech Financial Aid Info System to make sure that all requirements are met. See Financial Aid.
June 1 This is your last day to change your housing application preference or roommate requests. See Residence Hall Housing - Room Assignments.
June 1 Registration deadline for the June 13 - June 29 online Modern Language Placement Test. See Modern Language and Modern Language Registration Form.
June 11 It is time to prepare for the fall semester billing. If you are in need of funding in addition to that awarded by Michigan Tech and are looking to use an alternative loan program, start the application process now. For more information visit http://finaid.mtu.edu/alternativeloans.htm.
June 13 - 29 Modern Language Placement Test available online. See Modern Language.
June 20 Your second payment of the installment prepayment plan is due. See Paying Your Bill.
June 25 Watch for your Orientation information booklet in the mail. It will answer many of your Orientation questions. See Orientation.
June 30 Fall semester bills will be available online in July. The tuition rates may not be set at this time, but please refer to www.admin.mtu.edu/acct to estimate what your expenses will be.
July 1 Check the online Michigan Tech Financial Aid Info System to make sure that all your requirements are met.
July 5 Watch for your Reading as Inquiry: Summer 2007 brochure in the mail. For more information visit www.hu.mtu.edu/SummerReading. See Reading as Inquiry.
July 9 If you are expecting a refund from your fall semester financial aid and would like to receive the funds through direct deposit, please complete the direct deposit form at www.admin.mtu.edu/acct/students/summary.htm#Refunds.
July 10 If your parents would like to help you purchase items at the Campus Store, but don't want to give you their credit card, you can get limited access by filling out a credit card authorization form at www.bookstore.mtu.edu. See Get Your Books.
July 16 Be sure to complete your alternative loan application early. Even with preapproval, it still takes three to four weeks to process. For more info, visit http://finaid.mtu.edu/alternativeloans.htm.
July 16 Don't forget to purchase your Family Picnic tickets for Orientation. See your Orientation booklet or www.orientation.mtu.edu for more information.
July 20 Your third payment of the installment prepayment plan is due. See Paying Your Bill.
July 23 Look for your housing assignment letter in the mail in late July. See Residence Hall Housing - Room Assignments.

Your fall class schedule is available online on your Avenue. See Course Scheduling.

July 28 Your fall semester bill is available online on your Avenue. Bills must be processed by 5:00 pm on Wednesday, August 29. See Paying Your Bill.
July 31 It is important to check your HuskyMail for important billing notices. Michigan Tech does not mail paper bills.
August 3 It is a great idea to contact your roommate and talk about what you are both planning to bring. See Residence Hall Housing.
August 7 Your bill, available online, is the fourth installment of the prepayment plan and due August 29 at 5:00 pm.
August 10 Today is the last day for residence hall students to register their vehicles online. See Parking.
August 12 If you do not owe money, you must still process your bill to keep your course schedule. Refer to instructions at www.admin.mtu.edu/acct/students/aboutbill.html or see Paying Your Bill.
August 13 If you haven't already purchased your tickets for the Orientation Family Picnic, today is the deadline. See your Orientation booklet or www.orientation.mtu.edu.
August 17 Check out your Avenue to meet your Orientation Team Leader (OTL) and Resident Assistant (RA).
August 17 If you plan on mailing your fall payment, place it in the mail today to ensure delivery by the August 29 due date.
August 17 This is the deadline for the Campus Store credit card authorization form. See Get Your Books.
August 17 Registration deadline for the Modern Language Placement Test offered on campus during Orientation Week. See Modern Language.
August 25 Residence halls open at 10:00 am.
August 27 Orientation Week begins. See your Orientation booklet or www.orientation.mtu.edu.
August 29 The fall semester billing statement must be processed by 5:00 pm today.
September 3 Welcome Week begins. See Welcome Week.
September 4 Classes begin.
September 6 Course schedules dropped today for students who have not processed their billing statement by 5:00 pm. Once a schedule is dropped, you must process your bill and reschedule your courses.
September 6 Refund checks based on Federal Direct Loans are processed. See www.finaid.mtu.edu. See Financial Aid.
