Learning Communities
Learning Communities are unique residence hall living areas designed to enhance your life at Michigan Tech. Communities blend programming with additional peer staff to help you achieve academic and personal success. If you are interested in living in a Learning Community, check the appropriate box on your housing application.
Computer Science Learning Community
Enhance your computer science degree with the Computer Science Learning Community (CSLC). The CSLC brings together students, staff and faculty who share academic interests in the fields of computer science, software engineering and computer systems science. You’ll take classes together (both computer science courses and a college success course), share ideas, and have a lot of fun with like-minded friends. The CSLC is located in East McNair Hall.Healthy Living House
Live in a dynamic community that focuses on wellness of mind, body, and spirit. In Healthy Living House (HLH), you’ll enjoy a great community of friends who encourage each other to maintain healthy habits, including a positive attitude and regular exercise. Members of HLH participate in team-building and social activities, educational workshops, a wellness plan, and a college success course to help achieve their goals. HLH is located on the fifth floor of East McNair Hall.First-Year Experience
Start your time at Michigan Tech off right by choosing to live in First-Year Experience (FYE). In this active and vibrant community, you will live with other first-year students and experience Michigan Tech together. FYE helps to make the transition to life as a college student easier by providing the support of trained staff. As a member of FYE, you will participate in leadership and campus-wide activities, a college success course and much more. FYE is located on the fifth floor of East Wadsworth Hall.Forest Resources and Environmental Science Learning Community
Combine academics and an appreciation for the natural world with the Forest Resources and Environmental Science (FRES) Learning Community. This close-knit community is specifically designed for students seeking degrees in forestry, applied ecology and environmental sciences, and wildlife ecology and management. Members take courses together, including a college success course, and enjoy field trips and close interaction with faculty and staff. The FRES Learning community is located on the fifth floor of West Wadsworth Hall.International House
Embrace diversity and promote understanding as you learn in our multicultural learning community. International House (I-HOUSE) offers you the opportunity to live with a student from another culture, increasing understanding as you experience Michigan Tech together. Members work together to adjust to college life and build a strong community. They share their cultures through conversations, coffee houses, Parade of Nations, and much more. I-House is located on the second floor of West McNair Hall.
