Paying Your Bill

All of your Michigan Tech bills are available only on the web. You will view your bill through your Avenue, the MTU Avenue. You can find information on how to log into the Avenue at Logging On.

An email will be sent to your HuskyMail address notifying you that your bill is available for viewing. Payment must be received by the due date to confirm your enrollment and retain your course schedule. A second bill will be available online after school begins which reflects adjustments made after the original billing date.

We cannot process your bill without the proper payment. Please note that your course schedule will be canceled if we do not receive the proper remittance by the due date, or if your check is returned unpaid.

If you do not owe money, you must still confirm your enrollment online by the due date, or your course schedule will be canceled.

Payment Options

You can pay your bill by using one of these options.

E-check or Credit Card
You can pay online by e-check or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover) through your Avenue at
avenue.mtu.edu.

Money Order or Check
You can mail your money order or check payable to Michigan Technological University, Cashier's Office, 1400 Townsend Drive, Houghton, MI 49931. Payment by check, money order, or cash can also be made in person at the Cashier's Office. Please include a copy of the online bill with your payment.

Installment Prepayment Plan
You can prepay tuition by installments. This free plan starts in May for the fall and spring semesters or in September for spring semester only. Visit www.admin.mtu.edu/acct/pdf/installment_payment_plan.pdf or see Installment Prepayment Plan for more information.

Deferred Payment Plan
A $50 fee allows the deferment of part of the tuition account. One third of your expenses less financial aid is payable on the semester due date. One half of the remaining amount owed less financial aid is due four weeks later and the total amount remaining must be paid four weeks after the second installment. A contract must be completed by the student every semester. Contact Accounting Services at
